Into the Zombie World

Chapter 102 - Not Anymore

Under the humongous tree, Nile and his two pets were sleeping soundly. Maximo was snoring loudly while his ears were flapping up and down. Croco was still as a lake, while Nile\'s head was moving up and down due to him, using Maximo\'s stomach as his pillow.

Nile was already deep in sleep and was already having a good dream inside his head. However, he soon opened his eyes as he heard a commotion from the distance.

Being alert was something Nile wanted to do every time.

Nile gets up and looks towards where the sound was coming. On this silent and serene night, the sound of footsteps that came from outside the bamboo encirclement was apparent.

The footsteps kept on getting nearer as Nile unsheathed his Katana just in case something unusual broke out. Maximo and Croco were also awakened by the sound of footsteps in the distance.

The bamboo encircling the huge tree has a wide opening on one side acting as the entrance. With Nile\'s enhanced vision, he was able to see a figure slowly entering the bamboo encirclement.

The figure gradually came into Nile\'s view and he realized that it was a man. He was carrying something huge over his shoulder. Upon closer look, Nile was able to recognize it to have the same shape as humans.

The man was carrying three humans over his shoulder. There was blood all over his body. On the shoulder where he carried the three humans, Nile saw blood flowing down to his waist.

Nile stood up and stared at the newcomer. His right hand was tightly holding the Katana\'s handle. Maximo and Croco also stood up on all fours, they were as alert as Nile.

The newcomer was Jacob.

Jacob was leisurely walking when he noticed a man and two animals under the huge tree. He was startled and was forced to stop on his tracks. He stared at the man and noticed that he was holding a sword over a meter or so in height.

Jacob bulges his eyes as he imagines something terrible. The man was holding a sword. From the looks of it, the man had just come out from a battle.

Jacob glanced around and didn\'t see something or someone that might be the man\'s enemy. He then looks down towards the man\'s feet.

It was the entrance towards the bunker where he kept his zombie girlfriend.

Jacob\'s face contorted as he dropped the three women from his shoulder to the ground.

The three bodies produced a loud thud as the sound of someone moaning could be heard from them. However, Jacob was already imagining something terrible in his mind at that time so he was not able to notice that sound

The scenario of a man going down to the bunker to kill his zombie girlfriend keeps on repeating inside his mind.

"No.. No.. Nooooo!" Jacob shouted in a frenzy. He clutched his head and pulled his hair. Tears started to appear from the corner of his eyes as he started to cry.

He was madly in love with her girlfriend. Even when his girlfriend turned into a zombie two months ago, Jacob didn\'t have the heart to leave her behind.

Jacob would do anything for her.

Jacob then remembered the bunker outside the village. He tied his girlfriend and brought her over to the bunker. There, he locked her up and tied her feet to avoid losing her. Every now and then, he would return with a body to feed his girl.

However, now, his girlfriend was already gone. The man in front of him was the cause of that.

Jacob pointed his hand at the Nile and said, "You... You... What have you done? Why did you kill her?" He then pulled out a knife from his back. The knife was bloody and one could tell that the blood on the knife\'s blade had still not dried.

With tears on his face, Jacob smiled and pointed the knife towards Nile. "You... I\'ll kill you for her sake."

At this moment, Nile was knitting his brows together in confusion. \'What the hell? What\'s with this man? Who did I kill? Did he follow me here from the Village of Kahoy to get his revenge?\'

Nevertheless, Nile had already inspected the man and his strength was only so so. Seeing the man pulling out a knife, Nile knew that a fight would break out.

However, describing it as a fight was an overstatement, as Nile and Jacob\'s strength was miles apart from each other.  Not to mention his two pets that were also etching to fight.

Jacob ran towards Nile in a frenzy. Using the bloody knife, he attacked Nile with a stab targeting his stomach.

Nile holds his free hand up in the air to stop Maximo and Croco who was about to attack Jacob. Nile then easily evaded the strike by stepping aside lightly.

Jacob\'s attack missed. And due to the momentum of the attack, his knife was embedded and got stuck on the huge tree.

Nile and his two pets retreated away from Jacob. Nile could easily kill Jacob with a swing of his sword but he was curious if the man was really from the Village of Kahoy, so he decided not to kill him that fast.

Jacob was yelling about him killing \'her\' earlier, and the only one he could think of was the woman who blinded Maximo. He was not sure if there were any witnesses during that time, but if the witness was this man, then based on his attitude right now, he would have already attacked him by then.

"Who are you?" Nile asked Jacob.

Jacob was still trying his best to pull out the stuck knife when heard Nile talking. Turning around, he glared at Nile fiercely and shouted, "I\'ll kill you!"

"Hmm.. Okay." Nile shrugged his shoulders and slowly walked towards Jacob.

When he arrived, Jacob stopped trying to pull out the knife and instead made a fist fly towards Nile\'s face.

A trace of light could then be seen as Jacob\'s fist got sliced in half, all the way to his elbow.

Jacob retreated in reflex, his back was now touching the huge tree\'s trunk. He was startled and was awakened from his frenzied state. He wanted to cry in pain but he could not feel the pain at all. Instead, an ounce of pleasure and liberation was what was on his mind right now.

With his hand getting sliced, Jacob was able to get out of his frenzied state and was able to realize the reality. His opponent this time was stronger than him. He didn\'t notice it from before, but now, he could see the man\'s eye that was exuding with calmness.

Staring directly at his opponent\'s eyes, Jacob was terrified after knowing the harsh truth.

Death was staring at him.

He would do anything for his girlfriend, but deep inside, he knew he was a coward. He was willing to do anything for her except die. He loved her madly, but his life was the priority.

That\'s why he didn\'t want to become a zombie and follow his girlfriend to the afterlife. He instead chooses to live his life and tie his zombie girlfriend in the bunker. He was afraid of dying.

Realizing his impending doom, Jacob\'s eyes started to water as he instantly plummeted to the ground to kneel and beg.

With tears flowing out from his eyes, Jacob said with a crying tone, "I\'m sorry, I\'m sorry. I\'m sorry. Please... Please let me live. Please don\'t kill me!"

Jacob was now prostrating on the ground while begging for Nile to let him go.

However, would Nile still fall for that? Nope, not again.

Raising the Katana over his head, Nile stared down at the man and said. "Nahh, I\'ll pass!"

He then lets the Katana\'s blade fall towards Jacob\'s head. Just like slicing butter with a hot knife, the Katana\'s blade instantly penetrated and sliced Jacob\'s head in half.

He had already learned his lesson.

\'No enemies shall be spared from now.\'  That\'s what Nile vowed to himself after killing the woman who blinded Maximo.

Flicking the Katana\'s blade, the blood coating it was instantly cleared and splattered to the ground. With one swift motion, Nile sheathed the Katana before turning his body to look at the three figures that Jacob had dropped earlier.

He already knew that they were all human survivors, that Jacob had tried to kidnap or to kill. He doesn\'t know the reason why and he\'s not interested in knowing either.

What he knew was that one of the three figures was actually awake.

Nile was just about to walk toward the woman pretending to sleep when he noticed something at the corner of his eyes.

Below him, Jacob\'s blood was flowing on the ground. However, it was not the flowing of the blood that made Nile think that something was wrong.

It was the straight line formed by the blood.

Instead of going straight, the blood actually stopped flowing and instead spread to the side. That spread was now forming a straight line on Nile\'s feet.

Nile retreated in horror upon seeing the scene.

The scene was extremely familiar to him.

Wasn\'t it the same scenario when something was about to be summoned? It happened in the novels he read before. It was a blood ritual.

Is what Nile was thinking.

However, a few minutes had passed but nothing had happened.

Curiously, Nile approached the blood and the line earlier had now formed a small square on the ground.

Observing it closely, Nile realized that it was actually a hidden door.

Nile then opened the door curiously and a stair, leading downwards was what met his eyes.
